Vari-LayerTM technology works by concentrating on the areas of the body where the horse loses the most body heat, primarily the over the back and hips. By putting the majority of the fiberfill over these areas, the blanket is able to wrap more closely to the body and trap more body heat (an increase in thermal values of up to 30%) with less weight overall. The effect of gravity compression is also lessened, meaning the blanket stays fuller, longer and is therefore warmer.

What makes the waterproofing of a Rambo Turnout so much better?
Rambo Turnouts have two layers of fabric. The inner layer is Hydrophillic, which means "water loving", and this layer draws sweat and moisture away from the horse's body to prevent moisture buildup under the blanket. The outer layer is Hydrophobic, which means "water hating", and this layer drives the water vapor out through the fabric and away from the outside of the turnout. This means that water travels through the turnout from the inside to the outside only, so moisture won't stay under the turnout and can't sink in from the outside. This ability of the fabric to move moisture through and away is referred to as "Breathability". For those who want to get really technical, all Horseware turnouts (Rambo, Rhino and Amigo brand) are waterproof to 3000mm and breathable to 3000g which means that 3000g of water vapor can be released in a 24hr period from under your turnout.
Some may be concerned that the heavier denier of the Rambo Turnouts may make them less breathable, but fortunately this is not the case. Thanks to the high breathability of the AquaTrans coating, Rambo turnouts can have a high denier, durable shell with a high degree of waterproofing without sacrificing your horse's comfort.
Your Rambo Turnout is guaranteed to remain waterproof for three years with proper care and storage. Always use a natural, non-biological cleaner specially formulated to clean horse turnouts and fabrics with waterproof coatings. If you are washing your rug yourself, Horseware recommends using a soft brush to remove any excess dirt, then gently cleaning the turnout with cold water from a normal garden hose and Rambo Blanket wash. Rinse the blanket and hang to dry (don't ever dry it in the dryer). You should not use water warmer than 86 degrees or use a pressure washer as both can damage the waterproof membrane. Once your turnout is clean and completely dry, fold it neatly into a breathable storage bag and store in a cool, dry area. Moisture and excessive heat can damage the fabric's waterproofing.
To take advantage of the three year waterproof guarantee, please be sure to register your blanket upon receipt. There is a hang tag on the front of the turnout with instructions.
